up with the birds

"The birds they sang, at the break of day, start again I hear them say...it's so hard to just walk away. The birds they sang, all the choir, start again a little higher... it's a spark in a sea of grey.

The sky is blue, dreamed out loud 'til it's true...
then taken back the part shine through.

My arms turn wings...Oh, those clumsy things, send me up to that wonderful world...and then I'm up with the birds.

Might have to go somewhere they don't know my name...
float all over the world just to see her again...
And I won't show a fear, any pain,
even though all my armor might rust in the rain...

A simple plot, but I know one day, good things are coming our way. A simple plot, but I know one thing, good things are coming our way..."   -coldplay, 'up with the birds'

floral dresses

Lately, I've been loving floral dresses. I barely ever wear dresses and so I honestly don't know why that the past few weeks I have been like..."please, can I have a floral dress?" There has never really been a thought in my mind these pasts few months that had to do with a floral dress. So, here I am, randomly writing this. Why? I don't know. So, without further ado... here are some cute dresses I found around the web for you...
Out of all these, I have two favorties. The dress on the very top left and then the one right beneath it. Which ones do you like?
I love the dress with the blue flowers! It's really simple, but I love it.

Blue flowers. Love.
This is adorable!! I really like how she used black pantyhose underneath the dress...really cool. :) So, tell me...have you been loving the floral dresses or what? Perfect for summer...I know.

we bought a zoo

Wow, I haven't been here in awhile! Crazy. haha Anywho, lately I've been slightly obsessed with the movie, "We Bought A Zoo." I know, I know. When I first heard about it, I thought it was going to be a dumb movie about some animals talking but, no! It wasn't what I thought and actually, it has now been stuck in my mind for the like... the past 24 hours. (And no, turns out, there are no talking animals. THANK GOD!)

I could relate to this movie in some ways. And, I don't know...just something about it makes me feel inspired. Really inspired just to like...get out there and takes risks and find those crazy things in life.
This movie had a sad story but it gave hope. This dad and his two kids move into a house that happens to be in a zoo. I mean, wooooow. But from what all of them were going through (you just need to see the movie, mmk?) it was pretty brave. Brave.

20 seconds of courage. 20 seconds of bravery. So crazy, but yet...so amazing. That's like...a scary hope right there. The first step...it's always the hardest. And it's like, the dad took that first step and it launched a whole adventure.
And...oh my gosh! haha By the end of the movie, I was like dying. I mean, seriously! "If you love me, let me know." Dead, dead, dead. Then he goes and blahahbalhahahahbbllah. Once again, please just go. Go watch the movie. Please.

Oh, and don't forget about the background music! THE BEST I'VE EVER HEARD. Evah. That's one thing I've always noticed in movies. If the movie doesn't have good background music, that lowers a like level for me. I love music (and I mean, love) and so...the music in movies has just gotta fit. Here's one of the songs from the movie...Bramble. That's what it's called and it's probably one of my favorites.

This movie inspired me. It inspired me to hope. To dream. To be adventurous. Yeah, from the the cover it looks like a weird movie with animals in it, but then you watch it...and then you...I honestly don't know. I might just be really, overly in love with this movie...or maybe, I don't know. Maybe you've seen it, maybe you haven't, and maybe you're even wondering right now, "Why do you even like this movie?"

Well...my answer to you is: Why not?

little update

That is me right now. ^ Yup, it's true.

I've been so excited about this blog. So excited! haha You have no idea - probably because I haven't written in a few days! Sorry about that...I'm still trying to figure this place out. I'm currently sorting out the purpose of this blog and what I want it to be about  (which can be about many things and literally everything). I just want to make sure it's stuff that Emma wants to write about, not what other people like to write about. At my old blog I'd write some stuff that I thought was cool, but it wasn't my passion. Or things just changed and I didn't feel like writing about it anymore. I know, lame. But, hey, I'm working on this blog and so far, I'm having a pretty good feeling about this place. :)

Anywho, I just read this awesome post over at a Beautiful Mess on blogging and I'm so inspired! I'll definitely be thinking about what this girl wrote and once thought through, I'll definitely be pulling it through to this blog! So happy.

In the meantime, I realized I've never really made the official welcome of "Hi, I'm Emma," sort of thing. So hello!

I'm Emma.

I've always been the sort of artsy-fartsy sort of girl, like seriously since birth. haha I've always been more on the creative side and not completely on that whole adding numbers dealio going on. Anything artsy is where I'll be. I love, love, love to write. I have journals stacked up in my closet and I'm usually writing some random sentence on every ones' post-it notes. I like bright colors because they make me happy. :) And I love the smell of books (I am part nerd, by the way). Just thought you'd want to know. Finally, I just gotta say I love Jesus. He's definitely a guy I completely looooove and you'll probably hear a lot about him here and there.

I love adventure. It's something that's always thrilled me since I was a kid. (Jackie Chan was one of my heroes. Truth.) I've always loved the different people from all over the world and I've always dreamed of going places (not saying that I'd like if you just shoved me off an airplane into some tropical jungle out there..) that I've never been before. And maybe this place is over the Internet, but in a way, I think this blog is an adventure too and I'm so glad that whoever you are is taking the time to read this. And so...here's to adventure (in blogging, and maybe even...in life)! ;)

And yes, just in case you were wondering, I'm still doing that jig right now. ^^^

thanks for reading!!! hee hee hee :)

boy meets girl\\ hey girl

You've probably seen these "Hey Girl" things before but I found some really awesome ones. Ones that when I read them I am like, dead. haha I think these ones are like, Jesus-version, because they are pretty awesome and they give me hope for that future guy someday. Anywho, these guys in the pictures probably didn't say what is written but I like that whoever put these together used their faces. So, I decided I wanted to share some with you guys!! Let's start off with my personal favorite...
By far, the best one! I love it - modest is hottest. Nice (and catchy. haha) I think this is a great reminder. I mean, I think every girl wants attention from a guy at some point and a lot of girls do it through showing off their bodies. So remember... Modesty is hot.

Love this actor! haha (M.I.B.!! anyone, anyone?) I'm the sort of girl that likes to take notes in church, okay!? Sometimes I feel sorta nerdy, but whatever. I'm just sayin', according to this taking notes in church is adorable.
Ah, there is hope. :) There ARE guys out there who want to date you to possibly get married to you.

haha This one is just funny, probably because I love Zac Efron. Yeah. And McKenna...does this remind you of anyone?? ...heh heh Cool Christian guys do exist. And sometimes they wear V-necks.

1 2 3 4 5
Embarrassing, but honest.

Anywho, which one is your favorite? And tell me what you think...I'd like to know if these helped you in any way. Maybe you thought they were lame but I thought they were cool and I'll be honest, they gave me hope. hahaha :) Shows me that there are awesome, on fire for God, and of course, good looking guys out there. So yeah, enjoy, my dear reader. :)

here comes the sun...

I could totally use one of those this summer! ^ I'm just sayin'... That pretzel floaty is pretty snazzy, I must say.

SUMMER IS ALMOST HERE!!! Almost. I am so excited and SO ready! Are you? I'm especially looking forward to no school. It's time for a break, my friends! haha Here are some of the things I want to do during the next few months...
  • Go places! I hope to go on some trips to places I have no idea where. I especially love day trips. I love seeing new places and looking at all the shops. So cool!
  • Shop...yes, I'll be honest. I really feel like going shopping right now. haha Yes. :)
  • Sleeping in! No alarm clock going off. Sounds like freedom.
  • Occasional swimming...I'm not much for swimming but it's summer, so I will.
  • Friends! Yes, much so.
  • Taking pictures!! I really want to bring out my camera more. Seeing so many pictures on other blogs that so many talented people have taken inspires me so much. My Santa Monica post sorta showed me that I am capable of taking pictures. Yay! haha Emma can take pictures...
  • LA Fashion District! I haven't been there in a few years and I'd really like to go again. (for those of you who don't know what this place is - it's a shopping area in Downtown LA that has a bunch of cheap stuff! It's rather awesome.)
  • Read The Hobbit. McKenna (my friend) and I are going to read this together (right, right?) because of the movie that's coming out. If you haven't seen the trailer, check it out below...

What are your plans for the summer? Anything exciting? Oh, and are you excited? Cause I'm so doing some of these right now...
So. fun. :)

7 questions (again)

It's finally Wednesday and that means only one thing - 7 questions! Yayy! I'm linking up with the lovely Gentri Lee and maybe you are too. Go ahead and stop by her blog. It's so amazing and inspiring! :) Well, this picture reminded me of me...and yeah. This picture says it all - it's the story of Emma's life.

Anywho, let's get started!

1. If you were to start your own business, what would it be?
So many ideas! Ah, though it's funny that you asked. A few weeks ago I told my friend that if I ever opened a restaurant, I'd call it "Paper Airplane" because I'd fold all the napkins into planes... I just thought it was cool. :) haha

2. You wake up the wrong side of the bed, do you embrace your grumpiness or try to fight it?
Sadly, usually I just embrace it. I know, it's sad. *sigh*

3. What's the first memory you have?
I have lots of memories but I'm not sure which one is first. I remember one time being at my mom's work and one of the people gave me apple juice. Or having spaghetti leftovers. Or losing my favorite jacket on a bike ride. Or balancing on a small brick wall that separated my old house from the next door neighbor's. Or getting dog food from this big bucket in the garage at my old house. Yeah, not sure which one was first. Meh.

4. The world is ending, what do you do? Allow yourself to die? Fight? Hide? Etc.
Look for Jesus. And then run around and scream and yell, "The world is ending!! We're all gonna die!!!!!!" Then eat some chocolate for the last time. That's what I would do.

5. What is your favorite meal of the day?
Dinner. I love dinner, unless it's leftovers.

6. How do you best learn? Visual? Listening? Hands on?
I would say all of them.

7. What is your favorite joke?
oh, haha I have no idea. The only one I can remember right now is:

Would you forget me in a year? Would you forget in a day? Would you forget me in 2 months? Knock, knock.
Who's there?
You forgot me already!
That is my joke. Yeah, I hope you get it, or else that would be a fail.
There you go! My 7 questions this week! What are you doing today? I finished my science final!! So happy! :)
